Dry , Brittle and Dull Hair

The first imperative to manage hair is a daily scalp massage, using circular motions and making sure that fingernails do not dig in and damage the scalp. Shampoo every week, and after each wash, to detangle, soften and eliminate static electricity. Use a cream conditioner to heal dry, damaged hair by filling in crevices and smoothing the surface. Dry, dull hair responds well to oil treatment. Massage warm oil into scalp and wrap your hair in a hot, wet towel for ten minutes before shampooing.

If the hair looks dry, dull, lifeless and does not fell silky, the causes may be that it has lost its natural barrier of oil and moisture when it has been over-processed or over-shampooed. Exposure of hair for two long to the sun and wind, and chlorination due to salt water can damage the hair. In this case, use a low detergent shampoo formulated for dry hair in small quantity. Always finish with a moisturizing conditioner. Let your hair dry naturally. If you want to use a hair dryer, hold it at least six to eight inches away from your head and keep it moving. As regard continuous use of a hair dryer, the heat from it will not affect you hair, even if you use it every day, provided you keep it on the low or comfort cycle. Do not keep the dryer pointed at one spot too long, but keep it continually moving on your head. Using a dryer on a very hot cycle may cause flaking of the scalp if the hair is oily – in fact, the new comb-through dryers just dry the hair, not the scalp.
